Letters to the Editor
Fundraiser/Pot Luck Dinner/Silent Auction
Come and Enjoy the Evening while helping some people who are not so lucky as us

Only 17 days until the big 5th Annual Fundraiser at Hotel California in La Penita
(December 15/06 6:00 pm)

The Silent Auction is looking for more items..... We would love to have your donations for this auction...... anything......... Basket of bathroom items, basket of booze, basket of spices, art work, unique kitchen towels and wooden spoons, Huichol masks, you name it..... Something you think people would LOVE to bid on. If you have something you would like to bring, please email Jane ( omak@gci.net ) and describe your item, if you have a digital camera and can send Jane a picture..... all the better. WE NEED AS MANY ITEMS AS WE CAN MUSTER !
These items can be dropped off at Susan's home which is 32 Los Flamingos just around the corner from Bob and Vicky's home in Guayabitos. Or if they are last minute items you can take them right to Hotel California. It is important that Jane knows what you are donating so she can create the Bidding Sheets. Bob Howell should be returning from his annual visit with family for USA Thanksgiving very soon..... He and Vicky are the catalysts behind this very magical event.

Editor,
Just wanted you to know that we are planning on starting ladies golf next Wednesday at the Field of Dreams.  9 30 a.m. every Wednesday morning, nothing formal just a time and place for Ladies to get together and play. You missed some good pictures yesterday. The guys were cleaning out the bunkers and filling them with sand; very different with them walking up the fairway with shovels and rakes over their shoulders rather than golf clubs in their hands.
See you Sunday

Antonio Lopez Lopez
We call him Tony Lopez Squared.
He has been working in the La Peñita RV Resort for longer than....well most of us can remember.
Tony is well known and respected in town as a fair and honest guy. As Park Manager, he is front and center at the park. He knows the best places to get a dent repaired, who to see if you need something built, where to go for great tacos. A great friend and someone you try to get to know.

Mafia Christmas

A Mafioso's son sits at his desk writing a Christmas list to Jesus. He first writes, "Dear baby Jesus, I have been a good boy the whole year, so I want a new..." He looks at it, then crumples it up into a ball and throws it away.
He gets out a new piece of paper and writes again, "Dear baby Jesus, I have been a good boy for most of the year, so I want a new..." He again looks at it with disgust and throws it away.

He then gets an idea. He goes into his mother's room, takes a statue of the Virgin Mary, puts it in the closet, and locks the door. He takes another piece of paper and writes, "Dear baby Jesus. If you ever want to see your mother again..."

Danny Milski

An Interview with Danny Milski – The “Unofficial Mayor of Rincon de Guayabitos

When you first meet Danny Milski he comes across as the gruff ex marine, developer contractor that he is, but get to know him and you soon discover why he is referred to as the “unofficial Mayor of Rincon de Guayabitos”…because he cares and love this little piece of paradise as much as any gringo can.

Although he sometimes summers in his house in Lake City Colorado, he calls Guayabitos home, coming down for the first time in 1970 with his folks (his mother Fran, is the well known Fran Milski who stays every winter at the La Peñita RV Park).  And like his folks, he discovered the beauty of the area and returned to the trailer park every year before “picking up a steal of a deal” house in “Gringo Gulch” known also as the Zona Residential.

He later went on to become a two term president of the Guayabitos Residents Association where he and his wife Nancy put in many long hours sorting out the problems and concerns of their community.

Milski always the entrepreneur started the storage facility in Rincon de Guayabitos storing RVs, trailers, fifth wheels along with casitas service for the community.

EXPRESS: Having been here for so long and being an important part of the community, what in your view are the three most important changes you would like to see?

Milski:  The first thing I would like to see is more community spirit by both the gringos and Mexicans.  There so much that can be done in this community that would make it better for all of us.

Secondly are better schools for the children

And lastly we need better infrastructure …water and sewer.

EXPRESS   There are ongoing expressions of concern about encroachment of commercial buildings, bungalows and bed and breakfasts in the residential zone. Do have any thoughts on this?

MILSKI: They are not allowed in the zona residential but people have been getting away with breaking the permits and permits have been sold.  But in the end it is going to be fine as there will be no money in Band B’s and they will return to residential use.

EXPRESS:  We’ve noticed that there has been a growing trend in crime in the area…not serious crime but petty crime.  What do you think should be done about it?

Milski:  Very simply…do what we did in the Residential Association offer a $500 reward for for the information and conviction of the culprits…that put a stop to it.

EXPRESS: What advice can you give to people moving to this area for the first time?

Milski: To really enjoy it here you must keep busy otherwise you get eaten up by bad habits.  Retirement isn’t for sissies.

  Dan, Fran and Nancy Milski

Quotes for the Day

"There are two kinds of people in the world: those who make excuses and those who get results. An excuse person will find any excuse for why a job was not done, and a results person will find any reason why it can be done.  Be a creator, not a reactor. “

Alan Cohen

"When you go into court, you are putting yourself in the hands of 12 people who weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty."

Horseback Riding Tours of the Area
Want to explore the back hills by horseback? Then these are the tours for you. The tours are scheduled on Fridays beginning on November 24 or can be arranged privately for a group.
Everyone meets at (please note this change!) the Pemex in Lo de Marcos.  we then take a drive through the farming country to the Rancho Guadalupe for a wonderful breakfast of Mexican tacos. Make your own fresh tortillas if you want.  We then meet our horse friends for the day and begin the trip.
We have designed both easy and semi difficult trips depending on people's desires.  The easier trips are a combination of farmlands, riverbeds and roads, lots of scenery and plant and animal life. These trips are from 2 to 3 hours long. The more difficult trip consists of roads, farmlands, and trails which lead up and over a ridge and down to the river and waterfalls and pools.  Somewhat arduous in places but if a person is somewhat familiar with horses, it shouldn't be a problem.  It is lengthy however lasting about 2 and a half hours one way to the cascadas and 2 hours for return.
Upon return we are greeted by a traditional Mexican lunch.  Beer and frescas are available for purchase.
The cost of the trips are 300 pesos for the shorter trips and 400 pesos for the long trip. People should wear long pants and socks.  Bring sun block and bug dope,  any kind of snacks for the trail, water, camera and binocs.
Organize your own group at least 2 days in advance - Minimum of 4 people and a Maximum of 8. For questions and reservations contact garydorisstackhouse@hotmail.com
