Jaltemba News & Notes
Thanksgiving a Hit in Jaltemba Bay - Thanksgiving Dinner was served in many of our finer establishments yesterday. At Ricardo's overflow crowds, shifted tables, moved a bit closer and celebrated with friends and family. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Poncie and Susana Escobido with family en-tow arrived for the early sitting. Poncie has recently suffered two strokes and is currently taking it easy while doctors test and determine the cause. The crowd gave them a standing ovation.

Letters to the Editor
Hi,
Friends have been telling us about your wonderful newsletter and we would very much like to be added to your list.  We are wintering in Rincon de Guayabitos, Nayarit for the eleventh year, but we are not in an RV.
Thank you.
Bernadette Barnes

(Editors Note: The Express started 3 years ago as a Newsletter for the La Peņita RV Resort & Spa but garnered such a large following that this year we are focusing on the larger community. We are nearing 800 subscribers and now only 10% are from the park. A very important and vocal 10%. Make us your community newspaper by submitting ideas, events and stories about Jaltemba Bay that interest you)

Hi.
Love your pic on the newsletter, you both look great!   We are fine.  Settling in and enjoying getting acclimated to our area.  I could use a little heat and sun about now.   Enjoy the holidays.  Glad to hear Jaime and Hinde opening up another place.....Hugs all round.
Jocelyn

Editor, Once again, kudos for a superb idea.  Your email news is good for everyone.  Case in point --- Blanca and Steve Dickinson now live outside Dallas and can keep track of friends (Enrique Pena) and news each day.  They send Thanksgiving wishes to all their U.S. friends.
Eleanor

BRING YOUR FRIENDS!

Casa de Los Amigos is located north of the old cemetery on Calle Mirador, No. 3, La Penita.  Go through the gate to the top of the hill.  Limited parking is available.

Judy Kerrigan, a self-taught artist from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, will exhibit her paintings at Casa de  Los Amigos in La Penita de Jaltemba, Mexico.

Judy hails from New Orleans  which was  her home before moving to San Miguel de Allende ten years ago.  Her interest in painting began when she took several lessons from a friend, Jeff Coffin, who is an artist in San Miguel.    Beyond that she has had no formal training but has been painting for the past ten years.

Her paintings have been displayed in galleries and in various shows in San Miguel including the well known Instituto de Allende, which is a campus of The Universidad de Guanajuato dedicated to the arts. Other paintings in the U.S. and Mexico are in private collections and art shops in Louisiana and Mississippi  where her paintings have been well received with a wide audience.

Among her most popular paintings is a series called "Mexico's White Churches" which are done in her own individual  'naive' art style for which  she is well known.   She will also show HER VERSION  of some of the Great Masters, such as Picasso, Mattisse, Modigliani and T. Loutrec, to name a few.  Her current work includes a "Beach" series which, she says is "her own favorite so far."

Ms Maneras

Dear Ms Maneras,

I gave my housekeeper at the hotel a very large tip last week and she looked at it and gave it back. "No Buenos" she said as she passed it back, shrugged and smiled. I was insulted. It was well over $10 in quarters! Why wasn't it enough?

Ken

Dear Ken,

Ms Maneras thinks you should read a few guidebooks before you leave home. Better yet you should consider for just one tiny moment THAT YOU ARE IN MEXICO. Quarters have no value here. Nadda. Nothing. While banks will give people exchange for the American dollar bills, they will not give exchange for coin. Therefore you gave her nothing for her services.

Ms Maneras

Ms M

Dear Ms Maneras,

I was at a restaurant last night and the table next to me was very loud and rude. They were saying things such as "I just can't take this about Mexico, I just can't believe that...." They then started to make jokes about the waitress. I nearly died because the waitress understands English but doesn't have the confidence to speak. What should I have done? I felt bad for Tina and I wanted to tell the group something....

Ted

Dear Ted,

Ms Maneras thinks that it is ironic that visitors come to Mexico and then want things to be just like back home. She wonders why they waste their money to travel. While some would call them xenophobic, Ms Maneras prefers to refer to them as dumb-ass idiots.

Perhaps the next time a similar situation arises you might speak to your server in English and remark loudly that her English comprehension is perfect. Mexicans need to hear how much we love and appreciate their country and hospitality.

Ms Maneras

Ms M

Dear Ms Maneras,

I don't know what to do about my husband. Every time I go out he follows me. If that's not enough he has started to wear a tight revealing Speedo. It's a God-awful sight and when my neighbor next door saw him, locked his doors and turned off the lights. What can I do?

Jane

Dear Jane,

Ms Maneras thinks that you should put down your stilettos he should his Speedo. Figuratively speaking of course. Call a truce. Donate cash to the turtle fund.

Ms Maneras

Canadian Rant

HELP RETURN SANITY TO CANADA!! - submitted by Cheryl Scholan

So if the CANADIAN government determines that it is against the law for the words "under God" to be on our money, then, so be it. And if that same government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it. And since they already have prohibited any prayer in the schools, on which they deem their authority, then so be it.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to be a law abiding Canadian citizen. I say, "so be it," because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions. I would like to think that those people have the Canadian Public's best interests at heart.

BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I'D LIKE?

Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in Government buildings, I don't believe the Government and its employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas.... celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of Canadian life. I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter. After all, it's just another day. I'd like our Government to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays. After all, it's just another day. I'd like ALL Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break."   After all ~~~  it's just another day.

I'm thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter.   It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct." In fact....I think that our government should work on Sundays (initially set aside for worshipping God...) because, after all, our government says that it should be just another day.... What do you all think???? If this idea gets to enough people, maybe our elected officials will stop giving in to the minority opinions and begin, once again, to represent the majority" of ALL of the people.  SO BE IT........... .

Wanted Good Home for Puppy
This photo is of the cutest, calmest, most affectionate little dog I have ever met.  She is 2 1/2 months old, has been spayed (yesterday), and is looking for a new home.  Will remain a very small dog, some type of Chihuahua cross.  Not
yappy.
Her name is Milagrosita and she lives in La Colonia with a nice family that has too many dogs. Contact
hearob@island.net as the owner (Cecelia) does not speak English or have e-mail.

Horseback Riding Tours of the Area
Want to explore the back hills by horseback? Then these are the tours for you. The tours are scheduled on Fridays beginning on November 24 or can be arranged privately for a group.

Everyone meets at the crucero of the 200 and Ursulo Galvan.  we then take a drive through the farming country to the Rancho Guadalupe for a wonderful breakfast of Mexican tacos. Make your own fresh tortillas if you want.  We then meet our horse friends for the day and begin the trip.
We have designed both easy and semi difficult trips depending on people's desires.  The easier trips are a combination of farmlands, riverbeds and roads, lots of scenery and plant and animal life. These trips are from 2 to 3 hours long. The more difficult trip consists of roads, farmlands, and trails which lead up and over a ridge and down to the river and waterfalls and pools.  Somewhat arduous in places but if a person is somewhat familiar with horses, it shouldn't be a problem.  It is lengthy however lasting about 2 and a half hours one way to the cascadas and 2 hours for return.
Upon return we are greeted by a traditional Mexican lunch.  Beer and frescas are available for purchase.
The cost of the trips are 300 pesos for the shorter trips and 400 pesos for the long trip. People should wear long pants and socks.  Bring sunblock and bug dope,  any kind of snacks for the trail, water, camera and binocs.
Organize your own group at least 2 days in advance - Minimum of 4 people and a Maximum of 8. For questions and reservations contact Gary@garydorisstackhouse@hotmail.com

We never share or sell our email lists. All names and addresses remain confidential.
