Three Kings Day - School needs help
Three Kings Day is celebrated in Mexico on January 6 commemorates the 3 Kings who brought gifts for the Christ child and is the day when Mexican Children receive the Majority of their Christmas gifts.
In La Peñita this year, George is hoping to deliver some needed things to the small two classroom school of Jcruz Guarvado located on the outskirts of La Peñita it serves over 70 students from grades one to six. They are in need of ceiling fans in both classrooms and a basketball hoop to match the one that they currently have. Also they desperately need at least one more computer as they now have only one computer to service the entire school. If you can help with any of these items please see George at the Hotel California.

Hi Guys,
I laughed out loud at the "Chill in the Air" piece in today's Express! It was perfect. I guess the Leafs are hoping for 'the hell freezes over" temps - might be a long time!
Here in Winnipeg, it is almost sun-tanning temperatures, as we are expecting a high of -2C with sunny skies! But we will have a white Christmas!
Andrea in Winnipeg
Editor,

AUGUSTINE
Hi,
We made a donation this morning to help Augustine Leon out. This donation is our birthday gift to our future son-in-law Duncan Lowe.
Helping out others less fortunate means more to Duncan than anything else. When listing donations in the Jaltemba Express Community Newspaper, please make note of this. Thanks

Hi Dot & Bill,
Thanks for putting the pics of the Casita on your newsletter. We really appreciate it. You can remove the FOR SALE items…2 mattresses….We have sold them.
We would still really like the pics of Augustine Leon so we can forward them to our dermatologist friend in Canada. Realize he is going to San Poncho for tests but a second opinion might be helpful.
Please add our email address to your subscribers…Bye for now

SMOKERS
Today's round of comments seemed to be dominated by the smokers. What a shame that the smokers feel so trodden upon. They must be in the running for poster children for the oppressed. Frankly, I've never felt more trodden upon than by the smokers who feel it's ok to let their smoke travel in my direction while I am enjoying a beer and a dinner in a restaurant on the beach... or anywhere else. Politically correct? How about polite?

La Peñita Chooses Charlie Stone Hands Henshaw as team Captain
In what most people are calling an unprecedented move, Charlie Stone Hands Henshaw was chosen to lead home town favorites, The La Peñita Tigres , into what has now become one of Jaltemba Bay's most talked about Sporting events ...The Jaltemba Bay Express Community Challenge Cup scheduled for February 25th at the world famous Monteon Links Field of Dreams.
Jaime Chipper Horton was expected to be made team captain but stepped aside for the younger Henshaw. ¨We had to decide between age and beauty,¨ said Horton who also added that with the Community coming out behind their team in droves that ¨¨ Charlie was the right man to ensure victory for La Peñita.¨ Representatives from other communities were not available for comment at press time as they were reportedly on the golf course practicing.

Dining Out
Soley's
The food was delicious and the service, as always, was excellent. Soley's was packed last night with customers from throughout our towns sampling various items from the menu board. Laughing, sipping wine and beer, and laughing some more.
The restaurant has been recently updated and the covered chairs and tablecloths complete the Italian Bistro atmosphere that Danielle and family have worked hard to create.

It happened at the Denver Airport. This is hilarious. I wish I had she guts of this girl. For all of you out there who've had to deal with an irate customer, this one is for you. An award should go to the United Airlines gate agent in Denver for being smart and funny, while making her point, when confronted with a passenger who probably deserved to fly as cargo.
A crowded United Airlines flight was cancelled. A single agent was re-booking a long line of inconvenienced travelers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket on the counter and said, "I HAVE to be on this flight and it has to be FIRST CLASS.". The agent replied, "I am sorry, sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but, I've got to help these folks first. Then I'm sure we will be able to work something out."
The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?"
Without hesitating, the agent smiled and grabbed her public address microphone, and said, "May I have your attention please," she began, her voice heard clearly throughout the terminal. "We have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to Gate 14.
With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the United agent, gritted his teeth and swore "F### YOU!." Without flinching, she smiled and said, "I'm sorry sir, you'll have to get in line for that too."

I love you. Always have loved you. Did I see you in the pool web cam the other night around 12?
Is it true you have applied for a job at the Guayabitos News? Rumor has it that you are looking for more money and better working conditions. Are you packing it in and deserting the Virtual Paperboys? What gives?

Mexico Travel
by Lilianne Fuller
Before we arrived in Rincon de Guayabitos, I don’t think I had an appreciation of what the real Mexico was like. ‘Guayabitos’, as it is referred to by the locals is a small fishing village located on Jaltemba Bay in the province of Nayarit. There is only one ‘all inclusive’ resort and by Canadian standards would be considered a 2.5 star facility. We however found our accommodation to be clean, comfortable and quite nice. We upgraded to a better room in the adult complex and the size of our room would have easily slept 6 people.
As soon as we arrived at the Decameron Los Cocos we were met by our host Pierre who told us that our rooms would be ready very soon and we should go to breakfast across the street. Tired, grouchy and dressed far too warmly for the climate, we walked to the restaurant. Halfway across the compound, we got our first view of Jaltemba Bay. Our hotel was located on a charming little cove in the bay and small fishing boats lined the shore.
Everything was painted in bright florescent colours of pink, green, yellow and blue. The colours of the resort matched the carts carrying the ‘inflatables’ that the vendors drove up and down the beach. These colourful carts had an assortment of numerous sea creatures represented. There were lime green sharks and pink crocodiles. The children played in the waves as their parents feasted on fish and shrimp on a stick.
The first week we were there we treated ourselves to a tour of San Blas. San Blas is a small city on the Pacific Ocean is responsible for providing most of the seafood to the cities all along the coast. We toured the fort at the top of a very steep hill that overlooks the compact city.
By the time we finished our tour we were ready for lunch. The restaurant was simply decorated with colourful tablecloths and mismatched but clean cutlery. The meal was delicious. The special of the day featured freshly caught Mahi Mahi and chicken fajitas served on sizzling plates. We finished our lunch and then go t back onto the bus to see the crocodiles.
The boat carried 10 passengers and was piloted by a young Mexican boy who knew the river well. He pointed out the abundance of wildlife as we went around each curve among the mangroves. There were turtles and exotic birds everywhere you looked and every few miles along we spotted crocodiles of varying sizes.
Many people don’t believe that the Mexicans are doing their ‘bit’ for the environment, but seeing what they do to preserve the crocodiles certainly negates that opinion. The refuge was well run, organized and clean. There was even an ‘el gato’ ( a cat) on the premise to control the rodent population. People teased me that the cat would end up as dinner for the large crocodiles but the guide assured me that the wild boars that we saw were dinner, the cat would be considered only a snack!
This year, we ventured further off the beaten track and saw more of what the real Mexico is like. The Mexican people are very much like their climate; warm and sunny. The more I visit this warm and friendly country the more I say”Viva Mexico! I’m counting the weeks until I return.
