The many tent campers faired quite well according to cub reporter Walter Dubecki who along with Mighty Memo surveyed the RV Park for rain problems in the late night. Unfortunately some of the RV awnings didn't make it. R ain damaged awnings at La Peņita Rv Park right

In your Dec 29 newsletter you have a picture of a group of people with a sign on a corner. I cannot find an explanation for the picture. Perhaps if my Spanish was better I might be able to read the sign. I think it is a protest against the government, but not sure. Can you enlighten me? Thanks
Ray Carter
(These are men strippers from Veracruz protesting in Mexico City against a new law (enacted earlier this year) by the ex governor of Veracruz that insists that they keep their shorts on...a little complicated explanation but in the interest of good taste The Express didn't publish the picture of them without shorts (not another California George controversy). The sign accuses the ex governor of corruption and repression. Bill Bell photo)
GOT YA!
Editor,
Ive been had.
...but it was not the first time. Last night, at a dinner party with my French-Canadians friends, which I am by the way, I spread the word about that big hotel project in La Peņita, and now I am in deep trouble with that rumor. But that will teach me a lesson not to believe everything written in a newspaper. The joke still, was very good, and I am very glad that this project won't take place.
P.S.Could we write in French in your newspaper? It is quite interesting and very useful. Thanks....Maurice Dufresne, from Montréal, Québec and a 4 months resident in Rincon at Mar y Sol Las Palmas hotel.
(ps YES But because my French is not so good...you must promise that there will be no tricks like yesterday´s paper)
FRIENDLIEST GROUP ON THE BAY
Hi Dot,
My name is Shiela Dorough and I am one of the ladies that play ladies golf on Wednesday. We would like to invite anyone that would like to come out and play, whether good or bad, I'm one of the bad ones. We do lots of visiting, laughing and usually go to lunch somewhere after playing and have a wonderful time. I have met several really nice ladies, and hope to meet more. If anyone wants to play, and does not drive, you can email me at sd_dd@yahoo.com. We have several women in the RV Park here and in Rincon that would be glad to come get you to play.
Thanks for putting this
in you paper.
Shiela Dorough, La Peņita RV Park and Spa
