a Editor-in-chief, Dorothy Bell, agreed that the office needed to centralize the operations in order for equal access to the website and internet delivery. “ We have made an investment for the future. We are quickly approaching 1,000 subscribers daily and we are aiming for 5,000 for the peak tourist season.” In La Peñita, speaking on behalf of the union, Ms Maneras was skeptical of the investment into technology. “Ms Maneras thinks that the publisher should kindly GET A GRIP. There are NO SALES. Staff are underpaid if paid at all. “ Ms Maneras was fired from the Express but brought back after rehab and reader response. She is the only unionized employee with an ironclad contract for 1 year. She suggests that she is the only staff person who has the ability to speak out on management/worker issues. “Management should be concentrating on the staff relations rather than taking a lengthy retreat in Mexico City and Guadalajara,” said Maneras. “The paper boys are tired of getting slagged daily. The Kitchen Goddess hasn’t been paid in years. Ditto with Bernie and Marty. Who is going to benefit from these outrageous expenditures and where the hell are they going to put it?” The Jaltemba Express is the only on-line English Newspaper serving the communities North of Puerto Vallarta on the Nayarit Coast. Letters to the Editor Editor, My friends GARTH AND Doris ROY of Kelowna would like to receive the Jaltemba new letter. They stayed in the area for a number of years. Yours Truly LEN Schafer.
Editor, Please share this with your readers. Many know Pat from the area. Gary Stackhouse Hi there you two, This is my xmas letter that I usually send out with cards to Canada and the U.S., however, it I tried to send it now to Mexico. You might get it in time for the 4th of July, so am asking you to share this with the gang. thank you. Love Pat. Carole Thacker Carole Thacker is the operator of the La Peñita Resort and Spa. She started coming to La Penita many years ago as a guest in the park and when the owner was going to close the park approximately 5 years ago, she stepped up to the plate and arranged for it to remain in operation. Carole has changed the park for the better through improved services, coordinated activities and a common sense approach to management. She was the first RV Park in Mexico with wireless internet. The park is known as the “Friendliest Park in Mexico.” and is unique in the many diverse activities it offers to residents. La Penita de Jaltemba and other communities have benefited greatly from her business savvy. She actively marketed the area in publications and trade shows as well as on the internet. Three years ago she arranged for an “Almost-free Caravan to La Penita” bringing down approximately 50 new people a year. Many of the people now return annually to the area or have moved here as permanent residents. Carole has so successfully marketed the area and her park that other RV Parks have benefited from the overflow. She has been thanked by parks as far away as Sayulita for her efforts in bringing in business to the area. A workaholic by nature and choice, she has silently served the community in many ways without the need or desire for public recognition. Whether contributing to individuals in need, working on the Spay and Neuter Clinic, supporting local artisans and businesses in the area, Thacker has helped the community develop into the place where we want to live. Always smiling and quick with the jokes, she is an invaluable friend to many and well loved by the people around her. Pictured above dancing with one of her workers. Restaurant Review An update on the Costa Alegre for BREAKFAST, We had Eggs Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was real lemonony flavored - not lime. And while the ham was thin and the English muffin home made, the meal was great. It is serve with some riced potato and ham pancakes and there was an herb used that made it world class indeed. 2 meals with coffee - more than one cup included - for 90 pesos. For you who have trouble with math that’s just over $8 us. What's not to like? Bernie and Marty Sports

We have designed both easy and semi difficult trips depending on people's desires. The easier trips are a combination of farmlands, riverbeds and roads, lots of scenery and plant and animal life. These trips are from 2 to 3 hours long. The more difficult trip consists of roads, farmlands, and trails which lead up and over a ridge and down to the river and waterfalls and pools. Somewhat arduous in places but if a person is somewhat familiar with horses, it shouldn't be a problem. It is lengthy however lasting about 2 and a half hours one way to the cascadas and 2 hours for return. Upon return we are greeted by a traditional Mexican lunch. Beer and frescas are available for purchase. The cost of the trips are 300 pesos for the shorter trips and 400 pesos for the long trip. People should wear long pants and socks. Bring sun block and bug dope, any kind of snacks for the trail, water, camera and binocs. Organize your own group at least 2 days in advance - Minimum of 4 people and a Maximum of 8.
