LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
RESTAURANT RANT
I agree with all those who wrote regarding the gentleman who had a bad experience at a local restaurant. The solution is for you to continue to do what you do so well report on community events and share all the worthwhile information. The gentleman should take ownership and talk to the restaurant management himself rather than having other people do it for him. We all have had those experiences at one time or another. Thank you both for getting up so early every day and producing such a wonderful Newsletter I have looked forward to reading it every day since our friends in Rincon sent us your link .
Keep up the excellent work. We have 26 sleeps left before we visit your wonderful area.
Hi Mad and Mark !!!!!!!!!
Dianna
Hi
To begin with I like your news and the way you have set it up.
After reading your editorial on restaurants I am surprised that anyone would write about 1 bad experience at one or that you would print it. After being in this area for many years I hear many complaints as well as many praises for most of them. This applies to the Mexican ones as well as the foreign ones. You will hear people say they don’t like this one because the food is too spicy yet the next person likes it, or it’s too expensive or the service is slow and it goes on. Remember that some people have patience and others don’t. With the varied views of people I think unless the food is really bad then don’t eat it and speak to management, If the service is really slow look around and see if there is a reason for it and if there is one have another drink and get over it. Give the businesses a little leeway and try again and if it doesn’t work don’t go back. Remember 1 complaint does not mean everyone feels the same way. Maybe you should just do the reviews as you have been doing and stay out of personal likes and dislikes by individuals and let the lady who does the reviews continue doing her job. After all she has an open mind and no favorites
Diane Bell
(EDITORS NOTE:
As editors our dilemma was whether to publish the letter or not. We intend to continue to list new restaurants as time permits and to have a select group of impartial restaurant reviewers.)

100 NAKED GIRLS
When I saw a picture on the Jaltemba Bay Folk Board in November of 300 Barbies all dressed and ready to be given out by Robert and Vicky to the children of the area, I knew I wanted to help out with this worthy cause. Geri and Dawn have agreed that I can join them in crocheting little dresses for the Barbies.
I sent an email to my colleagues at Markham Stouffville Hospital and their generous response has been overwhelming. So far I have collected 112 Barbies and more are coming in every day.
We'll bring as many as we can pack in our suitcases and Skyservice has generously granted us an extra weight allowance free to bring the girls with us. My husband and I can hardly wait to meet Geri and Dawn in person when we deliver the Barbies. See you all soon!

Ms Maneras
Dear Ms Maneras,
I have a Mexican friend who owns a small shop in town and he always asks me to come and visit him. When I do I get very frustrated because he is obviously working and I can’t have a decent conversation with him.
I want to visit him but not in his shop. Between the customers, the phone and suppliers coming in and out of the store, there really isn’t much time for a quality visit. I have asked him out to coffee or dinner often but he has long working hours and can never make it. He gets upset when I visit for just a few minutes.
Carl from Boise
Dear Carl from Boise,
Yes Ms Maneras sees the problem. You cannot change him or his working situation. It is either up to you to change your mindset about the “shop visit” or to try different times that allow for more of a time together. Ask him when his slow times are and try to visit then.
Ms M
Dear Ms Maneras,
I popped into Hinde and Jaimes last Friday night and saw the performance by Singer Roberto Curiel. I admit I am perfectly smitten.
How do I get to know him better? Where is he playing next?
Merry Mary
Dear Merry Mary,
Ms Maneras made some inquires to her very good Amiga Hinde Horton and found out that he is playing again at Hinde and Jaimes this Friday evening.
It is customary to buy the singer a shot of tequila. Perhaps this is an opening gesture.
Ms M
Dear Ms Maneras,
I am ticked. My wife and I are avid golfers and play as much as we can. Last week when I came to pick up my wife on Ladies Day, I find a gaggle of laughing women and male table-dancers. What gives?
This isn’t Golf.
Anonymous
Dear Anonymous,
Ms Maneras kindly suggests YOU GET OVER IT. This is Jaltemba Bay. You are supposed to laugh every day until your belly hurts or else there is something wrong. This principal most definitely includes golf.
Be nice and they might just ask you to show them a few moves on the 19th hole. (Apparently Gary Stackhouse is making a list of volunteers who have kindly volunteered for table duty)

Entertainment Review
Singer Roberto Curiel Playing this Friday Night at Hinde and Jaime
Singer Roberto Curiel belted out Mexican favorites at Hinde and Jaimes last evening to a small crowd of mostly Mexican patrons. Too Bad. Roberto Curiel provided solid entertainment value for the evening and amazed and delighted the audience with his tunes.
Jaltemba Express Editor Dorothy Bell was on location for the début performance and was thrilled that “a musician of this calibre is playing in La Peñita in such a small venue. We have traveled throughout Mexico and can honestly say that a performer of Roberto Curiel’s stature is usually playing in Guadalajara or Mexico City in a much larger venue.”
He is a NOT TO BE MISSED entertainer that you will always remember.
Flag Day - February 24

This day honors the Mexican Flag.
The Mexican flag is one of the most beautiful and well recognized flags in the world. It has both interesting symbolic meanings and rich evolutionary history.
The Flags Symbols
The 3 colors represent:
Green - Hope and Victory
White – Purity of Ideals
Red – Blood of the National
Heroes
These colors were adopted
after securing independence from Spain during the War of Independence.
The Coat of Arms Symbols
The eagle clutching a serpent
in its talons is derived from the Aztec legend that told the wandering
nomadic tribe to settle and create a city when they found an eagle and
serpent. They settled with other tribes in the community called
Tenochtitlan (known now as Mexico City) in the Valley of Mexico in the
now drained Lake Texcoco. While many places have been named as the place
of origin for the Aztec tribe, the most common belief is that they began
their quest from Mexicaltitan Nayarit, an island town on a lake
just north of San Blas.
Note that the eagle sits atop
a prickly pear cactus on an island in the lake.
Flag Protocol
When the flag is presented at a ceremony or parade:
• Those in Military
unform salute as per their regulations – generally a standard military
salute
• Civilians give
"El saludo civil a la Bandera Nacional" - and must stand at attention,
raise their arm and place their right hand over their heart (The palm of
the hand is facing down)
• The President,
when acting in the capacity as head of the Armed Forces, gives a
military salute.
• The flag is flown
at Full Mast for certain holidays and Half Mast on Anniversaries of the
death of specific Mexican heroes.
