SPAY & NEUTER CLINIC TODAY – by Lin Chimes
We live amidst amazingly generous and committed people and I am so thankful to be here! Today we had 33 animal come to the clinic. We were able to spay and neuter 23 animals along with 6 consultations for sick animals. A VERY special thank you to all of our volunteers including those from the U.S. and Canada who worked all day to provide this service to our communities from La Colonia to Lo de Marcos!
Due to our excellent rescue team, we now have more puppies and kittens to locate...we need homes!!! Can ANYONE help us out??? Please!!! They are all adorable!
Donations keep coming in! We are thrilled to officially confirm that the Lo de Marcos Movie-Nite made $4,550 pesos and the Lo de Marcos Raffle made $4,250 pesos, plus 324.50 in donations making a total of $9,124.50 pesos to be contributed to the Jaltemba Bay Animal Rescue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Besides the many volunteers and supporters that made this night a huge success, we would also like to give special thanks to John & Rene Sommerville for their help in selling a large amount of raffle tickets. We are still trying to contact some of the raffle winners who were not present last night, so we will follow-up on listing people and businesses that donated items to be raffled, as well as the actual raffle winners. And
another special thanks to Hala, of Mayan Hammocks, for always donating a beautiful hammock to begin our many raffles, as well as her continued support of the Spay & Neuter Clinics.
Thank you everyone!!!!!!! And especially Melanie, Anne, Ana and Karen for all the work they did. It was a memorable night with excellent food, a thought provoking, cross-cultural movie and an excellent venue to connect with interesting folks living in our area.
Also a special thanks to Allyson Williams for her donation of 1000 pesos, Pauline Gow for her donation of 500 pesos and John and Vell Cole for their donation of 1000 pesos! Our fund is growing steadily. We will need to deduct clinic expenses at the end of the week and will up-date our total then.

EDITORIAL
HOME AT LAST
Bill and I said we would never do it again. We had a very successful life in Canada and worked as municipal politicians at night and by day worked for our own Government Relations Company. Workaholics. A Personalities.
We also had an 8 bedroom heritage home with a white picket fence lined with roses. It seemed we spent all of our weekends in and out of Home Depot. I knew the clerks and sale people better than I knew my relatives.
We gave all that up for a simpler and happier life in Mexico. We have a website and are travel writers and photographers. We love our new career choice and will continue to travel for the rest of our lives.
And we found here. We always knew we would find a home base and have decided after seeing the whole of Mexico, that this is the place we want to spend the most significant portion of our time. We’ve met the best of folks and we’ve had more adventures and belly laughs in four years than most people have in a lifetime. We’ve become involved in the community and our daughter Dylan, has a circle of friends and a novio named Jesus Alonzo.
The Jaltemba Express has been a blast and it has been a big factor in our decision. We don’t make a dime on advertising but the rewards from our readers keeps us going strong. Every day someone new comes up and introduces themselves. “Hey I’m Jack and this is Pat and we read your paper every morning.” We’ve had beers, tequilas, handshakes and hugs. Readership has surpassed 1400 subscribers and continues to grow. We are aiming to have a bi-lingual classified section in a month so the Spanish folks can see what we are buying and selling and join in too. Life is very good and we’ve made a big decision.
We are going to buy a place to use as our home base. We plan to continue the Express after the “Season” but it will likely evolve into a weekly so we can travel at our whim.
We will be asking you our readers for leads and advice. We are looking for a small modest place we can remodel or a lot or small piece of property we can slowly build a 1 – 2 bedroom home. Nothing grand. We would like a place with summer breezes because we know in the future that we will likely spend big portions of our year here. We are beginning the adventure that many of you have experienced already. Real estate, lawyers, workmen, taxes, trusts …..
We are self-admitted rookies and will be asking many of you for advice. We hope to share our adventure in future editions and vent our frustrations and joys along the way. Stay tuned.

100 NAKED GIRLS
Editor.
Thanks for the publicity on the eminent arrival of the new contingent of Barbie’s. Thanks to Dawn and Marilyn, I will have help clothing those nekkid girls. Although without the donations from Marilyn and many other folks, we would not have the over 400 dolls which have been donated this year. With the help of Vicky Flores and Bob Howell, they are finding new homes with many happy little girls here in the Guayabitos area. Dolls are always welcome and can be delivered to Mi Casa Su Casa B and B at 14 Flamingos in Guayabitos. Or contact me at my email address, gd1935@goldrush.com.

TELMEX – MULTIFON KIT?
Does Telmex still have the "Multifon Kit" for sale? Three years ago I purchased this kit for $ 999.00 pesos. My friend would like to arrange for the same kit if it is still available.
This kit includes the following:
- installation of a telephone line
- a telephone that works with the Multifon telephone card
- $ 100 peso card to program in the telephone
I can not find the information on the Telmex web site. Before I go to the Telmex office in Bucerias, I wanted to see if anyone has information about this. My Spanish is basic.
Thanks

Entertainment Review
Singer Roberto Curiel Playing this Friday Night at Hinde and Jaime
Singer Roberto Curiel belted out Mexican favorites at Hinde and Jaimes last evening to a small crowd of mostly Mexican patrons. Too Bad. Roberto Curiel provided solid entertainment value for the evening and amazed and delighted the audience with his tunes.
Jaltemba Express Editor Dorothy Bell was on location for the début performance and was thrilled that “a musician of this calibre is playing in La Peñita in such a small venue. We have traveled throughout Mexico and can honestly say that a performer of Roberto Curiel’s stature is usually playing in Guadalajara or Mexico City in a much larger venue.”
He is a NOT TO BE MISSED entertainer that you will always remember.

Excerpts from a Cat's Daily Diary:
Day 683 of my captivity: My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the floor.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. The audacity!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded!
The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe....... For now...
