Erendira de La Garz

There are many people who claim to know massage; A few do. If there is one person that completely stands out from the rest it is Erendira. We have been inundated with comments about her healing hands.

“I can’t believe my shoulders” says one friend who asks not to be mentioned by name. Another says she has never felt do good after a deep therapeutic massage from Erendira. Her deep Tissue Massage just can’t be beat.

Born in Mexico City, she studied her art from professionals and laymen around the country. She has lived in Monterrey, Puebla, DF, and now Las Varas where she continues learning about new and different healing techniques. Her major interest at the moment include native herbal remedies and healing taught by the Apache Indians in the US.

Erendira says she was born with healing hands and that as a child she practiced her art on friends and family. “They all told my parents that my hands were a gift.”

She is located in Las Varas and comes to the La Peņita Resort every Monday and Wednesday. People outside the park may drive up and schedule an appointment by signing up on the board. If desired she can make an appointment at your home or RV Park if you call her on her cell: 045-(327)-102-1598.

“People always ask if I have a table,” she says.” I do and I tell them I do but the best massage is done on the ground where you can deeply push the muscles.”

Carole Thacker

Carole Thacker is the operator of the La Peņita Resort and Spa. She started coming to La Penita many years ago as a guest in the park and when the owner was going to close the park approximately 5 years ago, she stepped up to the plate and arranged for it to remain in operation.

Carole has changed the park for the better through improved services, coordinated activities and a common sense approach to management. She was the first RV Park in Mexico with wireless internet. The park is known as the “Friendliest Park in Mexico.” and is unique in the many diverse activities it offers to residents.

La Penita de Jaltemba and other communities have benefited greatly from her business savvy. She actively marketed the area in publications and trade shows as well as on the internet. Three years ago she arranged for an “Almost-free Caravan to La Penita” bringing down approximately 50 new people a year. Many of the people now return annually to the area or have moved here as permanent residents.

Carole has so successfully marketed the area and her park that other RV Parks have benefited from the overflow. She has been thanked by parks as far away as Sayulita for her efforts in bringing in business to the area.

A workaholic by nature and choice, she has silently served the community in many ways without the need or desire for public recognition. Whether contributing to individuals in need, working on the Spay and Neuter Clinic, supporting local artisans and businesses in the area, Thacker has helped the community develop into the place where we want to live.

Always smiling and quick with the jokes, she is an invaluable friend to many and well loved by the people around her.

Pictured above dancing with one of her workers.

Mr Tarantula
Mr. Tarantula and his family live close by and you probably don't even know it. Sure to get a reaction every time he enters room, Mr T is hairy and black, has eight eyes and fangs. Unlike others spiders, he does not spin a web. North American tarantulas are exclusively ground-dwellers and live in burrows or silken retreats on trees, the walls of buildings, in plants such as bananas and pineapples or cliff faces.
Mr. T can inflict a painful bite when threatened but is very unlikely to do so. His venom is considered non-toxic to humans although there is likely to be a  rash caused by the hairs. Clean the bite with soap and water and apply anti-infection topical cream. Remove hairs with tape.

Please remember we are in the Tropics. Be careful.
