Information about Ixtapa Zijuatanejo, Mexico

Ixtapa Mexico hotels Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is part of the beautiful Pacific beaches of Mexico and unlike any other beach destination, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo gathers two entirely different places with different lifestyles. In Ixtapa Zihuatanejo you will enjoy two destinations for the price of one.

Located southwest of Mexico City in the coastline of the State of Guerrero; in the area know as "The Golden Pacific". Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa are 6 Km. (4 miles) apart from each other, connected by a four lanes freeway that extends all the way up to the international airport. Ixtapa Zihuatanejo has a semi-tropical climate year around with an average of 300 sunny days a year and temperatures ranging from 23 to 33°C (79-93 °F). Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is appropriate for families, singles, couples, honeymooners, old timers and especially for you. Once you discover Ixtapa Zihuatanejo you will come back for sure.

Knowing the two destinies
Zihuatanejo is a small town, which nowadays still conserves the typical physiognomy and the friendly atmosphere of the old fishing village with that "True Mexican Flavor".

Touristic area in Zihuatanejo
In Zihuatanejo tourist area there are many comfortable restaurants, boutiques, jewelry stores, bars, one star to five stars hotels, tourist markets, and much much more. You won't see any tall buildings because they are not permitted by a City Law, since the purpose is to conserve the village look of this beautiful place. Every year the picturesque and sheltered Zihuatanejo bay, only 1.8 miles wide, is visited by more than 60 Pleasure Cruise Ships as by sailboats and private yachts from many nations.

The downtown streets are still cobblestones paved and most of the constructions have that tropical-coastal look (even some of the new ones, to help preserve the old town appearance).
The downtown area in Zihuatanejo, known as El Centro, is great for walking and browsing, as it is the Paseo del Pescador, a brick-paved beachfront promenade along Playa Principal beach up to the Pier.

Zihuatanejo is famous for its great fishing, diving and snorkeling, and it’s a place where you can practice most water sports.

Beaches of Zihuatanejo
The beaches of Zihuatanejo are Playa Principal, Playa La Ropa, Playa La Madera and Playa Las Gatas, which are very safe for the very young to the very old in age, but not in mind, swimmer.

Ixtapa
Ixtapa is a modern world-class resort with modern constructions, vast and well kept gardens and a large residential area that is located away from the hotel zone. Its bay is wide and it is one of the places to admire great sceneries and spectacular sunsets.

Nightlife in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo can be active, relaxing or very romantic. When nightfall music and merriment invades the friendly atmosphere of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, where you can find a Mexican Fiesta in progress, live music at one of our many charming Restaurant and Bars or dancing in our Discotheques, full of colors, lights and happiness. Ixtapa Zihuatanejo has many discotheques, including one of the most famous in Mexico called Christine Club Ixtapa, definitively worth a visit.

Mexico’s Pacific Coast has long been famed for fabulous sport fishing, but the Mecca for angling adventures is, without a doubt, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.
Fitting the adage "a well-kept secret", the dual-destination of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo has been praised by anglers "in the know" and for many decades as one of the best three places in the world for big game, and fishermen's success rates rival the highest compared to anywhere else.

For underwater fans, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo has Scuba Diving with more than 30 world class sites around us. Tours for beginners or experts, even for first timers, with a fast professional training. Ixtapa Zihuatanejo also has great places for snorkeling.

If you love Golf, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo counts with two excellent courses, home of famous national and international tournaments (one of them is the "Canadian Tour"). Club de Golf Palma Real Ixtapa and Club de Golf La Marina. Green fees from US$45.00 to US$75.00 depending of club, time and season. Carts, caddy and equipment rental is available in both places.

Some hotels in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo have their own playing fields for their guests, but these clubs also offer more than 10 courts open to the public. Day and night games

Besides all the entertainment you'll find for your kinds in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, for an extra fun time, you can take them to "MAGIC WORLD" which is an aquatic recreation park in the Ixtapa area that is fun for all ages. Open to the public from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., "DELFINITI - Swim with Dolphins" in Ixtapa. Daily from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. For children and adults, 45 minutes session or "HAPPY PLANET" in Zihuatanejo. Interactive games for small children.
