Information about Manzanillo, Mexico

Manzanillo Mexico hotels Manzanillo is known as "The World Capital of Sail fishing", because of its great and famous fishing tournaments held every year. Manzanillo is located in the state of Colima on Mexico's Golden Riviera, between Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco on the Pacific coast. Manzanillo has become one of the country's most important tourist resorts, and its excellent hotels and restaurants continue to meet the demands of both national and international tourists, with a year-round average temperature of 27 degrees °C (80 °F), it has the best climate of the West Coast, dryer than Puerto Vallarta and cooler than Acapulco.

Manzanillo's pristine beaches and exclusive resorts have been featured in "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous," and numerous celebrity golf tournaments are held here every year. The Las Hadas Golf course has been named as being among "the 100 greatest in the world" by Golf Digest magazine and the finish destination for the classic 2,500-mile San Diego to Manzanillo Yacht Race is at Las Hadas 70-boat marina.

Manzanillo counts with exotic tropical vegetation, plantations of coconuts, bananas, limes, mangos and papayas, and the most beautiful unpopulated beaches in the country. The most popular beaches in Manzanillo are: Rompeolas, Playa Azul, Manzanillo, Salagua, El Tesoro, La Audiencia, Las Brisas, Las Coloradas, Santiago, Las Hadas and Olas Altas. South of El Rompeolas is Playa de Ventanas, a great place to watch the sunset. Close to Manzanillo are several lagoons: Potrero Grande, Miramar, San Pedrito and Cuyutan.

Watersports in Manzanillo

Miles of coastline spread out across the resorts two main bays; Manzanillo and Santiago. Manzanillo is blessed with some of Mexico's best wide but not crowded beaches. Water skiing, windsurfing, sailing, scuba diving and snorkeling are among the favorites watersports available.

Several hotels have fitness centers with state-of-the-art equipment. If your routine calls for jogging, our wide, pristine beaches offer a perfect invitation. Horseback riding, cycling and tours of the general area are also available.

Deep-sea fishing in Manzanillo
One of the most important attractions for the tourism that comes to Manzanillo is fishing. It enjoys international reputation because of the simplicity it is practiced, here in Manzanillo. Due to the fact that in these waters has been captured the biggest number of sailfish worldwide, the port has received the title of The World Capital of the Sailfish, as we mentioned before.

Deep-sea fishing is a modality that needs crafts of regular size that are propitious to navigate distances of 16 km of the coast, in opened sea, where the water depth allows you to catch big specimen like, sailfish and black, striped and blue marlin. Manzanillo's advantage over other ports is that here, to catch an specimen, you need to navigate for only 10 to 15 minutes from the point of departure; but in other tourist destinations you have to navigate from 2 to 3 hours to catch one.

Golf in Manzanillo
Another sport that is practiced in Manzanillo and that has given it reputation worldwide is golf, thanks to its wonderful fields that have turned into headquarters of international tournaments where the most world famous golfers play. The most spectacular field is that of Isla Navidad, thanks to its design meticulously planned by architect Robert Von Hagge, who has designed 184 other besides this one and participated in the planning of the design of other 200 in the world. The 27 golf fields have turned it into a challenge for many golfers. The other great courses of Manzanillo are: La Mantarraya, a championship 18 hole course designed by Pete & Roy Dye is located on the Las Hadas Resort. Club Santiago offers 9 challenging holes on fairways lined with lush coconut palms.

Manzanillo nightlife
The cafes, video bar, discos, and hotel bars become filled with lights, colors, magic, and diversions night in and night out. You'll find a grand choice of options from a bohemian cafe to an all night disco. Or enjoy a tranquil evening on the beach watching the stars illuminate the sky.
