Francisco Javier Rios Luna  - WE ARE YOUR SUPPORT CENTER

“This hurts me more than it hurts you”

My computer locks up, completely frozen. I press “Ctrl Alt Delete” several times, and with no end to this madness in sight, the PC’s grim reaper appears and strangles my operating system with its cold dark hands.

We all know it as the blue screen of death, a familiar and terrifying sight to any PC owner.

My computer’s last days are here, and like a bad breakup line,  it’s telling me to move on and that “this hurts me more than it hurts you.”

Living in the Jaltemba Bay community has taught me many things; one of those things being that the Jaltemba climate and humidity wears down electronics faster then I can enjoy them, and longer than I bought warranty for.

ANNA IBARRA - Posada Las Flores

By Adam Caddell

It’s a hot thirty-three degrees out, and I am thirsty. My throat is parched beyond imagination yet, I am salivating like a sheep dog gawking at a milk bone. I want a latte’ and I want one now! The only coffee shop in the area I trust is not a coffee shop but a well known Los Ayala bungalow. Posada Las Flores opened in 2004 and has been satisfying the Javaholics fantastic coffee as well as keeping families comfortable in their large.  It’s worth the trip; only a five minutes drive from Rincon De Guayabitos or ten minutes from La Penita.

An Historic Day in Mexican Real Estate

Last year the Mexican Department of Education (SEP) recognized real estate as a profession. On August 27th, more than 400 Realtors in ten different cities across the nation will take an exam.

Those who have registered have already met the necessary prerequisites. Passing the exam represents the next step towards receiving a Mexican real estate license. The exam will be given under the aegis of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI.) The exercise has been authorized by CENEVAL (The National Evaluation Center for Higher Education.) The test will recognize prior studies and experience and will cover all of the aspects needed to be recognized as a professional Realtor in Mexico.

Jorge Aguilar President of the AMPI, Morelia Section made this observation, "In the future, when a Mexican licensed Realtor shows a property that is for sale, the buyer can have confidence that all documents, including the title are in order, and the other documents including proof against liens and taxes have been reviewed by a licensed Realtor and have a high level of confidence about making the purchase."

BARCO Fiesta – A Guayabitos Tradition

 by Dylan Bell

We were waiting in anticipation at Los Coco’s the local beach resort when the taxi finally arrived. Although yellow, this was no ordinary taxi. It was a boat-taxi and it was taking us to the BARCO fiesta or party boat.

The taxi was filled and every person was just excited as the next. Every camera snapped shots as the view from the taxi was just too beautiful not to forget.

One beautiful summer evening, I was enjoying dinner conversation with long time Guayabitos residents, Jomie and Kenny Thompson.   Kenny shared the tale of capturing and killing a five foot long rattle snake at their house. “I still have the skin to prove it!” he boasted when I looked skeptical. We moved on to other topics, but it got me thinking. Imagine my shock when I did research on snakes in Mexico and discovered that there are over 320 species!  No wonder the snake is part of the county’s flag!  I also recalled that the native people of Mexico have many important snake gods and that snakes figure prominently in Mexico’s history. I am amazed at my previous naïveté for crawling around La Penita in sandals and shorts to garden or when hiking in the jungle in search of orchids.  Now, no matter how hot it is, I wear sneaker and jeans- a simple precaution.

Era of Cheap Gas Ending in Mexico?
Jeremy Schwartz - Arizona Statesman
go to original

http://banderasnews.com/0808/images/pemex.jpg

Mexico’s honeymoon with subsidized gasoline may be coming to an end, according to Mexican officals. Mexico pays just $2.76 per gallon of gas and $2.35 for a gallon of diesel, thanks to government subsidies. The Calderon administration wants to slowly, but surely, raise gasoline prices until they are on par with international (read American) prices within two years, the Mexican press is reporting.

Mexico is the world’s sixth largest oil producer, but because it lacks enough refineries, actually imports about 40 percent of its gasoline from the United States at what have been record market prices. The government has blamed a combination of high importation costs, the gasoline subsidies at the pumps and an alarming decline in oil production for wiping out what experts say should be windfall oil profits.

A hike in gas prices should also put an end to the border crossings by American drivers seeking a relief from high prices in the U.S. Many Mexican border towns have reported gasoline and diesel shortages because of the cross border traffic. Officials in Ciudad Acuna recently began fining American drivers who fill up extra tanks or drums with the cheap Mexican diesel.

Ironically, Mexican gasoline prices, which are set by the government, had been higher than U.S. prices for years, leading to much grumbling on this side of the border until the world oil prices skyrocketed
