Grand Opening Latitude 21

Great food, service and location

By Adam Caddell

On Friday night we took a chance and attended the opening of “ Latitude 21”. Located In south beach, Rincon de Guayabitos, it sits next to Alecias near Tequila Willy’s. Latitude’s open air multi level was very inviting, as were the family team of hosts that consists of Jeff, Delma, Shane and Reese.

First we started off with some fresh shrimp cocktail, with a zingy – zangy cocktail sauce, and fresh perfectly cooked shrimps.  The shrimp cocktail went down fantastically well with the ice cold pacifico’s.

While waiting for our entrée’s to arrive, we munched down on some tex mex nacho chips, with some homemade jalapeño and cheese dip, and some out of this world smoky salsa. It was a test not to double dip.

Lastly our entrée’s arrived, I had the big pork ribs and Dylan had her favorite – Chills Rellanos. The ribs were meaty and saucy, very satisfying. When asked on how the Chilies Rellanos were, all I got was two thumbs up.  Both entrée’s came with guacamole, rice and a salad, all served on a banana leaf. The guacamole was especially good.

After dinner, we had some margaritas which were absolutely amazing.  We drank them fast enough to enjoy the brain freeze, all while the live band “Jelly Jar” made the crowd swing.

All in all, we had a great time, and I am excited to go back and try one of their fresh fish dishes and  more frozen cocktails. Clean, open air and with its inviting ambience Latitude 21 will be a fan favorite in no time!

Mataja Wins Slander Suit

Mateja has won her court case against Diane Wardell (AKA Diane Bell). A jubilant Mateja expressed relief at the victory. "Yes the Mexican Legal system works." she said last night to friends over the Thanksgiving Dinner. "It's taken awhile but Dianne has been found guilty,"  Mateja said waving the judicial papers.  See the Judiical papers to see recommended penalties.

See the Spanish Court document here.

Mateja was quick to point out that she always just wanted the lies and slander to stop but was forced to proceed through the courts when Wardell continued to slander her and her business. "This is a victory for my friends and family and workers who have also suffered from the slander.  We won."

Feel Good about Doing Good for the Community:

              Dedicated Fashion Show Directors

Debra Triplett and

Kate Baron

By Tara Spears

Kate & Debra

One of the most popular ‘things to do’ for the last five winters has been to attend the annual Mujeres a Mujeres Fashion Show, and this season’s event will be just as spectacular. Not many women would turn down the opportunity to dress up, eat out, and shop! If that isn’t motivation enough, the fact that all proceeds from the event benefit local charities is the deciding perk.  As is true of any successful event, lots of time and effort comes first. It takes 50 volunteers to make the fashion show an enjoyable afternoon. For the two dynamic directors, Debra Triplett and Kate Baron, who handle the major planning, coordinating, and negotiating, the four months prior to the show is a whirlwind of activity.

Since both ladies had successful professional careers NOB, leadership is second nature to Debra and Kate. Debra was an advertising key account specialist for five of Clear Channels’ stations in Portland, Oregon, and Kate was a junior high school teacher-clearly they know how to deal with pressure. These civic minded gals want to positively impact the Riviera Nayarit community that has been  home for the last four years. “I love seeing how much the women enjoy participating in the show, and how the entire community has embraced and supported the event,” said Debra. ( photo, left)  Many would consider putting together a luncheon and show for 300 people a formidable task, but Kate and Debra manage it with a smile. Kate says, “I enjoy the organizing aspects, the camaraderie, and the promotion of unity toward a common goal.”

About 15 years ago, Debra and her husband, Glen, fell in love with the Guayabitos area that they visited while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta.  They decided that they would retire to this tropical area, and now operate a small bed and breakfast.  They have three grown sons that live and work in the US but that are frequent visitors to Mexico.  Kate and her husband, Larry, relocated from International Falls, Minnesota, where harsh, snow-filled winters are the norm. Now, the Baron’s are avid year round golfers with Mexico’s fantastic weather.  Kate and Larry have four children and nine grandchildren living in the northern US. “There’s always a birthday to celebrate,” quips the energetic Kate. (photo below)

These two vivacious, caring ladies feel good about their efforts to organize the Annual Mujeres a Mujeres (women to women) fashion show.  This event reflects the true spirit of the Riviera Nayarit community: a blending of international people coming together for a worthwhile purpose.  In the past, proceeds have helped cancer patients and built a kitchen in a senior center. Unlike several other local fundraisers that sponsor a particular cause, the assignment of Fashion Show funds is designed to be awarded annually to a high need project or group that benefits local women. If you know of a local organization or project that needs help, PLEASE contact the Jaltemba Bay Foundation, Debra

Speak Spanish - That Should be Your Goal!Free Spanish Lessons

Learn Spanish Today

Can you Speak Spanish? How long have you been studying Spanish? Between high school classes, college classes and you own efforts you could easily have a couple years already under your belt. During this time you have likely built up a good Spanish vocabulary, along with a basic understanding of Spanish verb conjugation. But can you speak Spanish?

Why is speaking Spanish so hard? Would you feel comfortable approaching a native Spanish speaker and starting a conversation? Why not? Why is it so hard to speak Spanish even after years of study?

Beginning high school and college Spanish classes, as well as most self study Spanish courses start off by teaching vocabulary and verb conjugation. You practice speaking, but the focus is on the individual word or phrase. Lists of words are memorized and tests are given on verb conjugation. So when it comes time to speak, the words and phrases are separate in your mind. It becomes a matter of trying to pull all the pieces together and form them all into a sensible sentence, not just speaking.

The key to becoming more comfortable in speaking situations is to practice and learn the sentences as a whole, not in separate pieces. This way when you are trying to remember what to say, the whole sentence pops in your mind, not just one word. You will speak Spanish more correctly, more fluently and more confidently than ever before.

The Visual Link Spanish Course allows you to utilize this effective way of learning and practice speaking Spanish. In our free online demo lessons, you can see how we utilize these strategies to truly teach you to speak Spanish. You will be able to recall everything you learn and words will come into your mind as a complete sentence not separate individual words. You will already be on your way to speaking Spanish more fluently and more confidently.
