Mexico to Vote on Fate of Oil

Mexico, Jul 12 (Prensa Latina) Mexican opposition Party of
Democratic Revolution (PRD) is organizing the referendum on the PEMEX state oil
company to be held July 27.
The two questions citizens will be answering, prepared by an
experts committee of university professors, will be ready today.
The same procedure will be applied to Zacatecas, Michoacan,
Guerrero, Baja California Sur, Chiapas and 14 municipalities of Mexico State in
two upcoming stages.
Jose Avila, Federal District government official, informed
conditions are ready for the vote of confidence and the call will be ready in
some 48 hours.
National Action Party senators oppose the plebiscite
promoted by the Progressive Front, made up of the PRD and the Work and
Convergence parties.
PRD coordinator in the Higher Chamber Camacho Solis wondered
why popular will is questioned and said the Senate should lead the referendum
support, given this is a parliamentary practice that benefits society.
