Carneceria Miramar has been serving the Jaltemba Bay area with fresh meat and poultry for several years. The family run business is the favorite amongst the gringo community and is owned and operated by Pancho and his wife Mirna Daniel. To read the entire story click here
IT all started with an enormous green ceramic pineapple. Seconds after
it caught my eye in the Museo de Arte Popular in Mexico City, I began to
covet it. The label revealed that the piece had been made in Michoacán,
a Mexican state along the southwest coast. Oddly enough, over the next
hour, almost every time an especially fantastic object caught my
attention, the provenance on the label was always the same: Michoacán.

MEXICO CITY — The capture was worthy
of an action thriller: elite Mexican troops rappelling from a helicopter
onto the deck of a mysterious submarine. The 33-foot vessel turned out
to be crammed with parcels believed to contain cocaine, possibly tons.
Its disheveled crew of four emerged in stocking feet and baggy shorts,
saying they had shipped out from Colombia a week earlier under threat of

Christmas in July! Think Christmas in July.
Last season, through the Barbie Angel project,
Letters to the Editor Dear Editor: I want to thank the Jaltemba Sol for the recent, informative article with pictures of the new LaPinta Police Department officers. I recently had a car break down south of Guaybitos on the highway, and was pleasantly surprised to be rescued by our local police. Because of the pictures, I was not afraid to see five strange men with guns appear because I recognized them from the photos. I was so impressed with the officers' professionalism and sincere help! They not only got me off the highway, thus avoiding causing an accident, but they radioed for a mechanic to come there, (which I couldn't do by myself), and stayed to ensure my safety- while conversing in English. There are not many officers north of the border that would have gone so above and beyond to help a foreigner. I wish to assure the gringo community that the new LaPinta law enforcement attitude is service! I have such piece of mind that now if I ever need assistance, I don't have to panic that I can't express the problem in Spanish. These fine men deserve respect for their dedication to the community and their contribution to making LaPenita such a safe and wonderful place to live. Thank you gentlemen! Tara Spears (Editor: Could you please run their pictures again? These good guys deserve the recognition....)
