The 2009 Mujeres a Mujeres Fashion Show, February 10, is pleased to be showcasing Ruth�s stunning women�s fashions.

Ruth has the rare gift of being able to conceptualize beauty in raw materials �I spread out the fabric or leather and I get a feel for a particular shape or design,� she says with a laugh, �it talks to me!� Next, she considers the customer�s size and preferences to create a pattern. After carefully cutting the material to accent its best qualities, Ruth sews the material to construct the finished product. It takes about eight hours for a simple leather lady�s handbag. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Crazy Nelly's celebrated their 1st annual Chili cook-off Sunday Jan 11.

There were 3 categories each with a prize.
Overall Best chili was won by John Sommerville (right) and the prize is a ATV tour by The Guayabitos Tour company, of Playa Divisidero for 2 with lunch and drinks.
Least Favorite and Most Original Chili were both won by Kathy Olivas, with her white bean chicken chili, the prizes were a bottle of Don Julio and a beach grab bag. You can see in the photo how hurt she is by winning least favorite.

We all danced off the chili to the rockin music of Sara Xuana from P.V., (the same band that played at our anniversary party.) A great time for everyone and a tradition has begun... chili, football and rock-n-roll!

You will speak Spanish more correctly, more fluently and more confidently than ever before.

Jaltemba Cup committee Highlights from the January 12 Meeting of Los Amigos de La Pe�ita It was reported that tickets sales for Fiesta La Pe�ita are slow. Los Amigos is looking for volunteers to serve as docents and servers at the event. The Beach Clean-Up Committee tabled its proponed plan. It includes a clean up day on January 24 at 8:30 and a number of initiatives to improve the area at the end of the Avenida. The proposed plan was approved and the Committee was provided with a budget of 27,950 pesos to undertake this work. Los Amigos agreed to establish the Los Amigos Scholarship Fund to finance six CONALEP/Preparatoria students for a full year�s tuition and supplies at a total cost of 18,000 pesos per year. There will be a public service clause to encourage young people to engage in Los Amigos activities. With respect the EcoPark, the next stage in the development of the park will be the installation of lights. Los Amigos is funding the purchase of the necessary hardware and the Municipality has agreed to install them. The Recycling Committee is moving ahead with the next phase of the Recycling Program. Recycling baskets, with a Los Amigo logo, have been placed along the Avenida and are now being placed in other strategic locations in the community. The Committee is also trying to identify sites in the community which can serve as drop off sites for the general public. A Recognition Event is being scheduled for January 19 to thank the Directors of the schools in La Pe�ita and La Colonia for their help in making the first phase of the program a success. The Jaltemba Bay Rotary Club There's a new Rotary Club here, in the formation stage, and already doing community service projects for which Rotary is known for world-wide. The Jaltemba Bay Rotary Club meets Wednesday mornings, 7:30 am at Pina Colada Restaurant in Guayabitos. International in its membership, there are local Mexican business people, and men and women from the United States and Canada. While in its formation stage, it has already had two events....one a fundraiser at Xaltemba Restaurant and Galeria to raise money to pay for tuition for needy students at Conalep, and the second, providing hamburgers for students at a primary school in La Penita on Monday.
