The Thursday market in La Peņita is an event, a social occasion, as much as it is an opportunity to buy. You will see many locals attend weekly, merely to have a latte at Soley's, a breakfast at Xaltemba or a taco or two at Hinde and Jaime's. It is a time to chat, make plans and carry on into the next week.
The items for sale range from the mundane to treasured handcrafted originals. Sounds - vendors from the CD booths to the repetitive calls from the 10 peso stalls - permeate the tarp laden streets.
