GREETINGS LA PENITERS NEW AND OLD
WELCOME HOME to everyone, and especially the new people who have joined us for the first time. It promises to be another great season! If you want to know what is happening in the park, check the notice board at the office each day and read the Serape, the park Newsletter, published at least once a week.
There is lots happening in the park, but if there is something you would like to see or something you can share, please feel free to put up a sign or sign-up sheet. That is what makes La Peñita so special, people are so generous with their talents, interests and time. It makes it fun for everyone.
There are two SPANISH teachers who would like to give lessons in the park. Manuel offers one hour beginner lessons 3 days per week. He also has intermediate and advanced classes at his school. The times are posted at the office.
Cesy is also offering SPANISH classes, details are posted on the office notice board.

WIFI
La Peñita RV Park
WiFi Do’s and Don’ts
The connection we have here in the park is somewhat limited in its ability to handle all the traffic everyone wants to put through it. Unfortunately we cannot increase the bandwidth any more than we already have, so everyone needs to be aware that they are sharing the connection with many other users and refrain from doing things that eat up our bandwidth and make it difficult or even impossible for other users to connect to the system.
Here are some Do’s and Don’ts:
Do’s
Do feel free to use the system for sending and receiving your email.
Do feel free to use the system to do your online banking. It is as secure as your connection at home, so don’t worry about that aspect.
Do feel free to use the system for web browsing, but please try not to click on sites that will bring up videos etc.
Do feel free to use the system for phoning using Skype or any other Voip software. Please be reasonable and limit your calls on this because it is a bit of a bandwidth hog; however, this is one of the things we want you to be able to do. See below about leaving your computer on for incoming calls.
Do feel free to send pictures to your friends and family, but please download and use a great little free program called Picasa (http://picasa.Google.com/). It shrinks the size of your picture files when you email them and uses less bandwidth that way.
Do feel free to use MSN Messenger or other similar programs to chat with your friends. But see below about using webcams with these services.
Don’ts
· Don’t use peer to peer connections (Bittorrent, Limewire, Gnutella etc) for downloading videos, music, movies etc etc etc. It absolutely murders our bandwidth. No exceptions.
· Don’t try to watch streaming video or listen to streaming audio. We do not allow you to watch TV or listen to radio broadcasts on your computer. No exceptions.
· Don’t upload or download big picture files…..use Picasa as mentioned above.
· Don’t use webcams. Many laptops now have built in webcams that can be used with MSN Messenger or Yahoo Messenger etc. Please turn yours off and don’t use it, and have your contacts turn theirs off as well so you are not receiving their broadcast.
· Don’t leave your computer turned on when you are not using it. No exceptions. If you are using it for things that don’t require the wifi connection, please disable your wireless adapter.
· Don’t leave your computer turned on so you can receive incoming calls if you have that kind of service with Skype or Vonage etc. No exceptions.. Let your callers leave a voice message and you can call them later.
ALSO
I would appreciate if all wifi users in the park would send the following information to me, murray@lapenitarvpark.com or print it out and give to Antonio in the office:

Someone to run a movie night at the pool. We have the screen and projector, sound and several movies. See Carole or carole@lapenitarvpark.com
.DO YOU NEED.
- a maid?
-some help after hours?
See Antonio at the office.
Faye will be running a 50/50 draw and selling T-shirts and flag badges at various functions. Proceeds to go directly to someone in need. Last year, proceeds from the lighted badge sale went to help a woman with cervical cancer. She had no medical coverage and could not afford the chemo, which cost $10,000 pesos per treatment. We gave her $5000 pesos, and she had fund-raising dinners in Los Ayala and managed to make the rest needed for her 1st treatment. After that, the family was able to get some funding. She is well and living in Los Ayala with her family. It is gratifying to know we were able to help.
We ask people to please conserve electricity and water where ever possible.
No air conditioning or electric dryers. Keep electric appliances to a
minimum. The water and electricity are very expensive. Also, remember, NO
toilet paper in your holding tanks or in the toilets. Toilet paper does not
break down as it should. Our systems are not made like the ones in the US or
Canada and there are no pump trucks here!
THERE IS A MEXICAN FIESTA AND FOLKLORE BALLET AT EL TIBERON ON NOVEMBER 20TH. KAREN WILL BE AROUND SELLING TICKETS - $100 PESOS. YOU CAN PURCHASE DRINKS AND FOOD.
That's it for this edition.
Use your sunscreen, swim with caution and HAVE FUN!!
Best regards from Carole and Linda
