Dining Out

Kathy Olivas' Guide to Jaltemba Coast Restaurants

 Rincon de Guayabitos

La Penita

Sayulita

San Pancho

Creation of this guide originally began for personal use only and simply grew. I decided that it would benefit both our permanent residents as well as our many part-time and temporary guests.  As a year round resident of the area, it was sometimes frustrating trying to decide where to eat out and we found ourselves going to the same places over and over again.  While we still have our favorites, variety is a good thing.  Finding a restaurant open in the summer season, especially in the evening, is a challenge so I have included hours for both high and low season.  I was not paid (or even bribed) by any restaurant to include them.  If there are comments on the menu or food prep, that means we have eaten there ourselves and the recommendation is personal.  Everyone has their own food criteria and therefore we take no responsibility if you don’t like the food at any of these restaurants.  We simply love to eat and eat to live.  If we don’t like a particular meal at a particular restaurant we try something else next time or choose another place to eat.

Please use this guide in the spirit in which it was created.  Frequenting our local eating establishments furthers our community.  Let them know you heard about them in this guide published in the Jaltemba Sol.  I hope you find it beneficial.

There are numerous small beach palapa restaurants that are only open during the day as well as night taco restaurants and stands that are not listed.  Most of them are wonderful too.

If you find a new restaurant, or one that I missed, please let me know so I can visit them and add them to the list.  I’ll I will do my best to keep it up to date.

Thanks,
