So Many Pyramids - So Little Time

Our most recent journey into Mexico began in October 2003 and we have been on the road ever since. We began in the Baja and our intention was to move throughout the country easily - stopping where we pleased and when we wanted. Plans changed when Dorothy needed a safe haven to recuperate after her motorcycle accident. We headed to La Peņita.

Volleyball in La Peņita

Like many who come to La Peņita, we found it hard to leave. We made many friends, played volleyball until our arms felt like they would fall off,  ate fresh Dorado with shrimp as big as wieners. We experienced Semana Santa where the RV Park's population exploded above the thousand mark. Finally the park closed for the season and we had to leave.

Hockey Night in Melaque

We visited RV Park after RV Park down the West Coast and watched the NHL playoffs on the beach with Max and Al from Calgary- drinking a few Dos xx's and Pacifico's. After Acapulco we headed inland to beat the heat. Cuernavaca, Puebla and then down to the Gulf of Mexico to an area called the Costa Esmeralda  or Emerald Coast.

Our loop around the Yucatan was too quick. Too many pyramids, so little time. We met up with a Canadian family, the Neilson's in Paa Mul, Quintana Roo, and then picked Justine our eldest daughter from Cancun International. She is fresh from receiving first class honors B.A. from Dalhousie majoring in International Studies and is now traveling with us as we scoot through Chiapas and Oaxaca and up to Mexico City. Five people in a 28 foot motor home. Some call it CRAZY.

IT IS VERY CROWDED AND SOMETIMES VERY LOUD!

We found new campsites and found others closed. We have completed much of the updates on the Baja and west coast and have added a plethora of new maps. We be continuing to update regularly and hope you drop in often to appreciate the changes.

As always we love to hear from you and enjoy your questions and letters. We ask you take the time to vote for your favorite campground or write us a story or two.

Enjoy this issue of the Mexican Journal. Live today with gusto.

Dot and Bill Bell

We are now in Puerto Escondido and staying with Puerto Dave at the Villa Jardin Real. He is planning a small  RV Park for the area soon. We'll let you know when it is available!
