Las Varas Carnival
by Kathy Miling
If you are looking for an exciting evening and feel a
little adventurous, check out the Fiesta coming up in
Las Varas just a few miles north of La Piņata RV Park on
200. The fiesta starts Feb. 3rd and goes until Feb. 12.
This is a religious festival for the Mexicans
celebrating the Virgin Mary.
There is a Mexican style parade with costumes, dancing and singing and on the final night, real life statures of the Virgin Mary and Jesus. And
don't miss the Mexican style dancing on the stage.
There is also a large flee market with all the goodies.
From what I understand, the later dates are the best. However, there are fireworks, parades, bands and a flee market everyday. The parade usually starts around 8:00 or 9:00 and the fireworks around 10:00.
Please note; things are always subject to change.
