RV Park Profile

La Gaviota

Feature RV Park  - Gulf of Mexico

La Gaviota – A fun resort on the Gulf of Mexico
Just along the Rio Soto Marina is the tiny town of La Pesca, a small tourist and fishing town catering to a mostly Mexican crowd that makes its way on weekends and holidays to the beach. This sleepy little town is an undiscovered gem and the brightest jewel is La Gaviota – a small RV and condo resort on the Rio just west of town. It is the best of the accommodation available and the prices are very reasonable.

La Gaviota can accommodate approximately 12 RV’s and offers full hook-ups on flat grassy grounds. There are more spots available for dry camping if those are filled. The park is exceptionally well maintained and are located right beside the river. Word is that the Caravan Companies have discovered this place so make sure you call ahead if you plan on arriving during the high holidays.

It is the extras that make a visit to La Gaviota special. Imagine a beautiful and well maintained pool overlooking a river; Exotic birds and parrots flying overhead.  La Gaviota boasts an exceptional dock and pier; the perfect place for tying your boat up or fishing directly from the pier.

It has a warm and inviting restaurant on the property that won’t break the bank!

My family visited La Gaviota in 2002 and was absolutely delighted with the facilities and to discover the friendliness of the visitors and owners. While our Spanish isn’t great we had loads of people wanting to communicate with our family. We have come to the conclusion that Tamaulipas is one of the friendliest states we have visited.

Our kids as always in Mexico were treated like royalty. Within moments of our arrival, kids from visiting families jetted our kids from one activity to another. They were busy fishing, playing golf, swimming and yes riding a big banana boat. We played tennis and mini-golf. And we laughed and laughed!

Bill and I have great memories of a family vacation. We talk often about friends we made while fishing on the dock. Sharing a few cervezas and a meal or two.

We are going back to the Gulf Coast soon. This time we will stay longer in La Gaviota and discover more secret charms of the area. We will write again when we do.

Rates: $17 a NIGHT FOR FULL HOOKUPS
