Tenacatita Free Beach

Tenacatita Free Beach – Playa Tenacatita, Jalisco, Mexico

Tenacatita has been closed because of land disputes. We are told that local residents have won and that the town will soon open but this is not confirmed.

If you are going here please write and tell us if this and other camping places are open. Thanks. Please write editor@ontheroadin.com

Tenacatita Free Beach

This is a beach that has on again – off again camping. Officials will sometimes close the camping off.

The “campground” is just an extension of a secluded beach. There are no services – ok for boon-docking for a day or so but no so great when your tanks become full.

Signs encourage everyone to respect the environmentally sensitive area – one of the few coral reefs on the Pacific.

Misc Comments:

Getting there

Directions: Drive to KM 28 North of Melaque, Boca Beach and South of PV and Punta Perula. Turn SW on a well marked road to Tenacatita. Drive through the tiny towns of La Rosa and El Rebalsito (approximately 8kms) and turn right at the end of the road. Look carefully and make your first right up a dirt/sand road. It looks like a wide trail. Drive over the hill and around and in 2 minutes you will be there.
