Name: Victoria de Durango is the official name which was named after the city of Durango, Biscay in the Basque Country of northern Spain; Victoria was given to honor Guadalupe Victoria, Mexico’s first President.

Durango was built on the site of a tiny Spanish town of Nombre de Dios meaning “Name of God” in Spanish.
